What is Happyapple?

Real photos and art, paid fairly.

Happyapple is a photography marketplace — an online shop for real photos and digital art, where you buy pictures straight from the people who took them, with no middleman getting in the way. Every photo is checked by a real person before it shows up on the site, and anything made by AI gets turned away, so you know each image was actually shot by a real photographer with a real camera. When you find one you like, you pay for a licence — that’s simply permission to use the photo — and your files are ready to download within a few minutes, no waiting around. The photographer still owns their work, and they keep 80% of what you pay, so buying here means your money goes to the person who took the photo and made the art.

Questions people ask

Whether you’re here to buy real photos or sell your own, here’s everything you need to know before you start.

View photographers

Are these real photos or AI-generated?

Every image on Happyapple is real photography taken by a real photographer. Uploads are automatically screened for signs of AI generation, and images flagged as AI-generated are rejected or removed. This is a marketplace for authentic photographic work, not synthetic imagery.

What can I use a purchased photo for?

Each photo is licensed for personal and commercial use under the licence terms set by the photographer who made it. The licence covers a single end-user and is not transferable — you may not resell, redistribute, or sub-license the file you download.

Can I preview a photo before I buy it?

Yes. Every photo has a free watermarked preview you can download to check the composition and framing before you commit. The preview is for evaluation only and is not suitable for publication.

How much do I keep when a photo sells?

You keep 80% of every sale. Happyapple takes a 20% commission, and only when a photo actually sells — there are no listing fees and no charge per upload. Payouts go to your connected Stripe account on a regular schedule.

What does it cost to start selling?

Nothing. The free Welcome plan costs nothing and requires no credit card, and it includes up to 100 photos and 5 collections. Paid plans add higher limits and extra features, but you can start selling and earning without one.

Who owns my photos once I upload them?

You do. Uploading to Happyapple does not transfer ownership — you keep the copyright, and you stay free to sell the same work anywhere else. You grant us a licence to display and sell your photos on the platform, and nothing more.
